Mayday Parade – Anywhere but Here

AnywhereButHereThe fall season a big time for music releases, pushing product onto store shelves for that Christmastime money. October sixth is no different with the release of all kinds of albums from bands like The Backstreet Boys, Built to Spill, Toby Keith, The Fall of Troy, Everclear, KISS, Horse the Band, and so many more. For your pop-punk pleasure, Mayday Parade is releasing their sophomore effort Anywhere but Here, their second album since 2007.

A Lesson in Romantics saw original vocalist Jason Lancaster depart prior to the release of the album shortly after its completion. His vocals remained, but was replaced for the supporting touring with Derek Sanders, the man behind the keyboard. There is no real difference in sound since the departure, but its interesting to hear the difference in vocals between the two albums.

And that’s pretty much where the interest stops. Anywhere but Here isn’t a terrible album by any stretch of the imagination. It has everything you could ever want in a pop-punk disc. You have your love songs, your break-up songs, your fast upbeat songs, and your strummed out acoustic ballads. Fearless Records has managed to find yet another band to just lump out another set of songs that sound exactly like all of the album filler you’d find anywhere else.
